Awesomeness of God

To more fully understand the Bible and your relationship with the Almighty it is necessary to have some idea about the awesomeness of God. The Lord God is completely mind-boggling in every respect.

Proverbs 3:19-20
By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; 20 by his knowledge the deeps were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew. (NIV)
Isaiah 40:28
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. (NIV)
Jeremiah 51:15
“He made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding. (NIV)
People read these passages and think that they have some understanding of what they are saying. I don’t believe it is possible for anyone to understand these passages, but some understanding is helpful.
Suppose my friend that God gave to you all the power to create anything, which is to say, you can will into existence anything that you can envision. Now further suppose that I ask you to bring into existence a basketball. That sounds simple enough, don’t you think? Now, please, please, please, stop right now and think about this assignment. Are you thinking? Are you imagining? This thought will help you much more if you play along.
I hope that you gave this some thought. Now, did you remember to make the atoms? From what did you make them, that is, did you with wisdom and understanding create the particles with which you can create the atoms with which you can create the molecules? This is all much more difficult than it at first seems.
Let us move on to easier stuff. How big did you make the basketball—exactly? How thick was the outside material, that is, how many molecules thick was it? How many bumps did you put on the outside? Oh, and here is one that is easy to forget; did you remember to put air inside? How much air? Is it the right pressure, I mean, you did remember to put more air into it than will fit, didn’t you? Golly Miss Molly this is really hard stuff!
You can multiply all of this by a trillion trillion trillion and not even come close to God.
Ephesians 3:20-21
God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.
Glory to God in the church!
Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus!
Glory down all the generations!
Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes! (The Message)
My friend, if you can think or imagine it, God can do more. We cannot even begin to understand God.
Deuteronomy 29:29
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. (NIV)
This is a very important passage. We cannot know what has not been revealed to us. But, we can know what God has revealed to us! We are like little children being taught by our father. We look up to our Father and worship him in his awesome greatness, being thankful that he loves us and cares for us. Those that are proud and arrogant of heart mock those of a gentle and teachable spirit, but what of that?

My dad is bigger than your dad!
